Iranian feature film ‘Another Time’ has taken home the jury recognition prize from the Athens International Film and Video Festival (AIFVF) in the US.
Nahid Hassanzadeh’s received praise at the AIFVF for its nuanced depiction of the ties of family, duty, love and tradition as it plays out in a family.
‘Another Time’ tells the story of Ghadir, who is a chemical plant worker going through a hard time. The screening session of the 72-minute feature was held on April 4.
The movie, Hassanzadeh’s first feature film, has participated in several international events, including the 40th Sao Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, 24th Raindance Film Festival in England, 22nd Kolkata IFF in India, and others. It has also won several awards.
Hassanzadeh was born in the Iranian city of Mianeh, East Azarbaijan Province. She studied filmmaking at the Iranian Young Cinema Society of Tehran.
Most of her works deal with the problems and difficulties confronting women in today’s society and how their gender impinges on their lives.
Founded in 1974, the AIFVF has continuously maintained a vision and identity that celebrates avant-garde, independent, alternative, and world media, in all genres and formats.
Located in the rural southeast city of Athens in the US state of Ohio, the festival takes advantage of the beautiful location to sponsor outdoor screenings and media events.
This year’s edition of the Athens International Film and Video Festival was held in Athens, Ohio, from April 3-10.
